Speaker Profile: Keith Richards

Keith Richards has been in the securities industry since 1990 and has held his Chartered Market Technician designation since 2003.

As Portfolio Manager and in his current practice, ValueTrend Wealth Management (WorldSource Securities Inc.), he manages over $100 million and runs a discretionary investment service for high net worth clients. ValueTrend’s mandate is defensive - their tagline “Limit your risk. Keep your money.” is not just another business slogan.

His articles appear regularly in Investors Digest, The Moneyletter, The Globe and Mail, and The Toronto Star newspapers. Keith’s appearances on BNN Television have inspired producers to acknowledge him as “one of [our] most accurate Technical Analysts.” Keith’s first book, SmartBounce: 3 Action Steps to Portfolio Recovery, is available in bookstores and directly through his blog page His second book, Sideways: Using the Power of Technical Analysis to Profit in Uncertain Times is also available in bookstores.

Topic:  The Great Rotation

In early 2013 at The Vancouver World MoneyShow, and through his media writings at that time, Keith warned investors about the perils of "chasing yield" through interest sensitive stocks. Hundreds who acted on his advice avoided a substantial correction in those stocks this summer. Keith will now present his approach to technical analysis to CSTA members, along with his current views on the new trends for the markets, plus specific thoughts on what to own and what to avoid in the coming months.
If you want an informed opinion about 2014 coming markets and defensive strategies from one of Canada's most respected technical analysts then you must attend Keith Richards' presentation. Keith's talk will cover:

·        Identifying market phases

·        Fusion analysis: ValueTrend’s approach to marrying technical and fundamental analysis

·        Cyclical rotation: where the money's going, and where it’s leaving

·        How much further will the bull market go?
