Guest Speaker Visiting From Australia: Paul McLaren, Managing Director of Enhance Your Options Pty Ltd
Bio: Paul McLaren, who holds the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation, is the President and Managing Director of Enhance Your Options Pty Ltd, an Australian-based company specialising in options education and training.
Paul’s academic background and career history is both broad and varied.
He holds a BAgSc (Hons), GradDipAgEco, numerous project management and training qualifications as well as the CFTe and CMT qualifications. He has worked as a farm manager, life insurance agent, high school teacher (Fiji), university tutor and lecturer, IT training manager (UK) and organisational change manager (AUS). From this experience, he brings a very different perspective to everything that he applies himself to; especially in relation to financial education. After returning to his Australian homeland in 2012, following 9 years living in the UK, he decided to fill a niche that he identified in providing quality financial education and training, particularly as it relates to options trading.
Not content to produce just another options trading course, he applied his skills and expertise in designing courses to accommodate different learning styles, data visualisation techniques and proven learning concepts to develop courses that enrich the learning experience. To facilitate this, he developed several proprietary options training tools, the flagship of which is the RoToR Payoff Diagrams®. These tools and the courses that are based around them, are the culmination of 25 years’ experience in adult education and training, technical analysis skills and over 20 years actively investing and trading.
Paul is an entertaining and highly regarded speaker having delivered presentations in Australia, Europe, Asia and North America and presented global webinars for the CMT Association and IFTA. He also recently presented at the IFTA 2017 Conference in Milan, Italy and the IFTA 2018 Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Topic: Volume At Price: Not all prices are equal!
Presentation Outline:
Volume At Price (VAP) is a powerful, easy to use visual tool that confirms other visual indicators, but it has not been given much coverage in the Technical Analysis field.
Paul will outline both the theory behind the indicator and its practical application.
The appeal of Volume At Price is that it quickly and clearly shows
- Support and resistance levels
- Areas prone to gaps
- Where the price is in relation to its distribution pattern
- What the price action is likely to be at certain levels.
Using real trading examples, Paul will demonstrate that the market has a memory, and prefers certain prices over others. This will help traders to understand target price zones, regardless of the momentum of the stock.
