CSTA Calgary Monthly Meeting - March

Speaker: Dave DiMarcantonio - Dave has dabbled in markets since the dotcom era but really began studying markets around 2006-7 at which time he cut his teeth during the 2007/2008 financial crisis. 

Dave operated a small trading room from 2011-2015 in order to network and learn with other traders and investors.  He was the CSTA Oakville Chapter Head around the same time for about 3 years and served 2 years on the CSTA Board of Directors.

Dave recently started the AmiBroker Canada User Group at www.amibroker-canada.org in cooperation with the CSTA Oakville Chapter, which meets in person and online on the 1st Tuesday of each month.  The group is a helpful resource for those that want to become more proficient with the AmiBroker testing platform and AFL programming.

As a DIY trader and investor Dave has made the transition from mainly a discretionary trader to a quantified systematic investor, using tools such as AmiBroker to backtest, quantify and validate trading and investing ideas.  Today Dave utilizes semi and fully automated systems in order to reduce the emotional impact associated with trading and investing.

Currently Dave spends his work time between his passions of investing and managing real estate and activities related to trading and investing in the markets. 

 The latter activities include efforts directed toward helping other traders and investors become more structured, systematic, quantified and process based in their decision making. Dave is currently launching www.systematic-investors.com in order to directly assist other traders and investors make their own transition from discretionary to more systematic and quantified investors while reaching their systematic investing goals and objectives including finding and sharing trading and investing systems that have the potential to work in real market conditions.
