Speaker:  George Davis, CMT CAD Strategist & Chief Technical Analyst, Fixed Income and Currency Strategy, RBC Capital Markets - a CAD Strategist and Chief Technical Analyst, Fixed Income and Currency Strategy at RBC Capital Markets in Toronto. With over 25 years of market experience, he is responsible for RBC’s Canadian dollar forecasts as well as intermarket technical analysis research that covers the FX, fixed income and commodity asset classes. George was awarded “Technical Analyst of the Year” in 2010 and 2013 by the Technical Analyst magazine. He was also a winner in the “Best Bank FX Research & Strategy” category in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2016, the “Best Bank Fixed Income Research & Strategy” category in 2012, 2014 and 2015, the “Best Emerging Markets Research & Strategy” category in 2013 and the “Best Commodities Research & Strategy” category in 2016. The Canadian Society of Technical Analysts recognized his work in the field of technical analysis by naming him “Technical Analyst of the Year” in 2016. George has also been ranked in the Euromoney survey. He is a contributing author to “Technical Analysis in the FX Markets”, a book published in 2010 by Global Markets Media Ltd. George’s technical views on the markets are often featured in various media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, CNBC, BNN, Globe and Mail, Bloomberg, Reuters and Market News International.

Topic:  2017 FX Outlook: USD on Offense, Volatility on Defense There has been a significant shift in market dynamics to end 2016, as central bank monetary policy initiatives approach the finish line and the focus shifts to fiscal policy as a driver of economic growth. This has important implications for the various asset classes as well as volatility. Those who attend this meeting will hear George discuss his currency outlook in this regard as 2017 gets underway, as well as highlight some key intermarket relationships that are expected to drive price direction during the year.
